IE8 keeps forgetting cookies

Lately I have noticed that IE8 keeps forgetting cookies whenever I restart the windows. After doing some research around the issue, I think the following simple tricks should fix the problem.

First, open the Internet Options by [Tools]->[Internet Options]

Then, click the [Delete] option under [Browsing history]. The following dialog will pop up.

Most likely options like [Preserve Favorites website data], [cookies], and [form data] are not checked. So just check them and you should be good to go!

Well, at least it works for me.

Finally, Henin is back.

It is extremely easy to remove and clean the filter, as well as openning the brushbar to clean the brush.

Excel: How to search for multiple strings in a cell

I learned about this technique yesterday.

The problem is as follows: There is a cell that we wanted to find out if it contains at least one of the multiple strings (words or numbers) that we specified.

One real life application is like this. You are given a long list of item descriptions, and you wanted to find out if it contains some specific items such as “pressure cooker”, or “microwave”, etc.

How to do that? Hope you can find out by just looking at the attached picture.

VB.Net: MDI, Splitter and Splitcontainer

windowsapplication1First of all, I have not had good experience with Splitcontainer in MDI. I was unable to load a child form in the splitconainer panel. I have googled it, but found it very awkward. Some one even reported that the menu would get messed up even if you somewhat cheated the splitcontainer to make it take the child form.

So, splitter comes to rescue. My way of doing it is as follows:

Insert a panel in the MDI, DOCK it to the left or right. This is a very important step.
Insert a splitter control, and dock it left or right, as the same of the panel.
Put your controls, e.g. buttons, trees, in your panel, and ANCHOR it to at least left AND right, so your controls will move along with the panel when you move the splitter.
Assign a Minimum width to the panel if desired.
